Dr. Matt Boente is a specialist in obstetrics, gynecology, and gynecologic oncology. He is a graduate of St. Louis University and Rush Medical College in Chicago and had his residency at Rush Presbyterian Medical Center. He was also a Galloway Fellow at the Department of Surgery, Gynecology Division at Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York and was also a fellow at Duke University’s Division of Gynecologic Oncology. Aside from his hospital practice, he also held various leadership positions at the Fox Chase Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, and Minnesota Oncology.
As a medical professional, Dr. Matt Boente MD has shared his expertise as an academician and consultant. Throughout his career, he worked with many pharmaceutical companies and oncology advisory boards. The physician is also well-versed in clinical research, medical education, healthcare information technology (HIT), and electronic medical records. From 2017 – 2018, Dr. Matt Boente worked with Genentech, Inc. as its Medical Director, US Medical Affairs, Gynecologic Oncology. Prior to his post at Genentech, Dr. Boente was Director of Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Minnesota and the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. His work with Genentech, Inc. in San Francisco, California, put him in charge of a global cross-functional team responsible for the FDA approval in June 2018 of the medication bevacizumab to be administered with chemotherapy in front line ovarian cancer treatment.

For his many years in service, Dr. Matt Boente was awarded by various organizations for his work. He was part of Minneapolis-St. Paul Magazine’s Top Doctors Award from 2002 – 2015, Minnesota Monthly’s Best Doctors for Women Award from 2002 – 2015, Philadelphia Magazine’s Top Doctors Award from 1994 – 2000, and received the National Cancer Institute Gold Certificate of Excellence Award in 2012.
